President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign team seeks meme expert in apparent attempt

President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign team is looking for a meme expert in an apparent bid to win over Gen Z voters.

The Biden for President (BFP) campaign has posted a “partner director” position with a successful candidate responsible for launching and managing “day-to-day operations aimed at engaging the best content and meme pages on the Internet.”

The Biden camp will pay the Wilmington, Delaware meme boss between $65,000 and $85,000 a year, which is slightly more than the average salary for digital marketers in the United States, according to Indeed.

According to the job description, Biden’s primary task will be to manage relationships with digital media companies, podcasts and “meme pages on a number of social media platforms.”

Biden’s team has dabbled in memes before, and his campaign adopted the “Dark Brandon” laser eye meme in early 2022 in an effort to portray the 81-year-old as an internet savant.

In February, Biden was asked about the Dark Brandon meme by Seth Meyers on his late night show. “I’m really pissed about this,” he replied before donning a pair of dark aviators.

Biden wore sunglasses again and waved in character to cheers from the audience at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April.

The move appears to be the latest attempt by the longest-serving US president ever to attract a younger generation of voters.

Many Democrats also appear to have changed their stance on cryptocurrencies after presidential candidate Donald Trump defended them in an apparent attempt to win votes.

Across political lines, Trump is no stranger to memes. His August 2023 photo went viral after he was booked into the Fulton County Jail on his fourth indictment.

His campaign team seized the opportunity and immediately began selling T-shirts, mugs and merchandise, and launched a “MugShot” collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in December.

In early May, Trump’s MAGA memecoin skyrocketed following his pro-crypto comments.
