In this week’s episode, Retail Out dives into the evolving landscape of Web3 technology.

In this week’s episode, retail Dive into the evolving landscape of Web3 and blockchain technology with Anurag Arjun, co-founder of Avail. The discussion covers the consolidation of the Web3 ecosystem, the rise of clusters, the challenges of fragmentation and the innovations paving the way for mass adoption.

Arjun discusses the fragmentation of the Web3 ecosystem and Avail’s role in unifying it. He explains that the growing number of layer 1 and 2 blockchains offering innovation could be detrimental to the space due to fragmentation and user confusion. It highlights the importance of a modular architecture, in which multiple blockchains can operate on a secure underlying layer, sharing the same economic security.

Avail aims to address this fragmentation by providing a scalable and reliable underlying layer for blockchain operations, enabling the creation of multiple blockchains with different execution environments. Arjun also highlights the importance of data availability and zero-knowledge technology to achieve scalability and resolve fragmentation issues. He envisions a future in which batch lists become the dominant paradigm on the blockchain, providing flexibility and reduced friction for developers to build decentralized applications.

Additionally, Arjun discusses the challenges of airdrops in 2024, emphasizing the need for clear communication and realistic expectations to avoid user disappointment. Avail recently announced a $600 million token distribution to reward users across various networks, including Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, StarkWare, and zkSync.

He concludes by expressing optimism about the future of Web3, anticipating advancements in clustering technology, zero-knowledge proofs, and increased awareness of these technologies outside of the crypto bubble.
