The Hulu original series follows the twists and turns of the dysfunctional love triangle between characters Steven, Lucy and Diana.
With Megan Oppenheimer as executive producer and showrunner working alongside Emma Roberts, Kara Bryce, Laura Lewis, and Shannon Gibson, Tell Me Lies Season 2 is sure to be as addictive as Tell Me Lies Season 1.
The series is based on the book Tell Me Lies by Carola Lovering, who also serves as a consulting producer on the series.
The coming-of-age thriller follows a group of friends who meet at the fictional Baird College in upstate New York and, most importantly, a disastrous relationship that unfolds over the course of eight years.

Has Tell Me Lies been renewed?
Yes, the romantic drama has been renewed for a second season. Hulu revealed the renewal just a month after the season one finale.
The show aired from September to October 2022 on Hulu.
How did the first season of Tell Me Lies end?
The end begins with the truth behind Maisie’s death.
It was revealed in a previous episode that Steven and Maisie had a summer romance.
However, Stephen wanted to keep this a secret so that his ex-girlfriend Diana wouldn’t find out.
Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2: Everything We Know
When Lucy doesn’t feel like going out one night, her roommate Maisie goes to a party alone, where she calls Stephen to join her.
Neither of them wants to get behind the wheel when they decide to go home.
But Stephen bites the bullet and takes the keys.
This shocking revelation that Stephen was the one behind the wheel in the car accident is in keeping with the character’s selfish tendencies.
We see that during an argument between them, Steven takes his eyes off the road when he is then forced to swerve to avoid hitting Drew.
Unfortunately, Stephen crashes into a tree, and because the passenger’s seatbelt doesn’t work, the collision kills Maisie. Stephen then takes Maisie’s body and puts her in the driver’s seat, deletes evidence of their contact from her phone, and walks home, leaving Maisie to be found by the police.
Steven has no problem letting Drew take the blame for the accident, something he clearly struggles with on screen.
This also leads Lucy to believe that the accident was Drew’s fault and that Stephen was in the passenger seat when it happened and only drove away because he was afraid the police would find out that he was there and had been drinking.
Only Murders in the Building Season 4: Everything We Know
In an attempt to protect Stephen, Lucy writes an anonymous letter to the college dean. After being called into the dean’s office, Drew believes Stephen wrote the letter, but Stephen tells him that his older brother Wrigley told his girlfriend Pippa.
Later, when Wringley is put in the hot seat, Drew and Wringley end up fighting, and Wrigley accidentally falls off the balcony, resulting in an injury that prevents him from being the quarterback for the football team his senior year.
Stephen clearly knows that Lucy is the person behind the letter, but Wrigley believes it is Pippa, leading to his breakup with her.
In another attempt to “protect” Stephen, Lucy lies to another student, saying that she and Stephen were together the night of the accident. When Diana hears of this lie, she tells Stephen, who is furious but realizes that it is easy to disprove.
After all this, Drew was released by the Dean, meaning that Lucy’s letter did absolutely nothing except destroy Pippa and Wrigley’s relationship, as well as physically hurt Wrigley and ruin his future football career.
When Calls the Heart Season 11: Everything We Know
We then see Diana win Stephen’s heart back as the two go downstairs holding hands and leave the end of semester party in Hawaii.
This breaks Lucy’s heart as she wonders downstairs where he is and ends up drinking too much alcohol and sleeping with her friend Bree’s boyfriend, Evan.
Eight years later, we find ourselves at Lucy and Evan’s engagement party, which now has a different feel as a viewer who knows what happened between Lucy and Evan years ago.
Another shocking surprise unfolds when the long-awaited Stephen arrives. Stephen is now engaged to Lucy’s best friend from home, Lydia!
Tell Me Lies Season 2
In season one, Grace Van Patten played Lucy, Jackson White played Steven with Kathryn Missal as Bree, Spencer House as Wrigley, Sonia Mena as Pippa, Brandon Cook as Evan, Benjamin Wadsworth as Drew, and Alicia Crowder as Diana. We expect everyone to return.
Despite her early death, Lily McNearney played Maisie. Jessica Capshaw played C.J. Albright, Lucy’s mother, and Katey Sagal played Nora, Steven’s mother who suffers from narcissistic personality disorder and emotional manipulation.
We can expect Natalie Lenz, who plays Lydia, to appear more, as well as Edmund Donovan as Max.
Tell Me Lies Season 2 Cast Additions
According to US Weekly, the series’ Instagram account revealed in January 2024 that Oppeheimer’s husband, Tom Ellis, would be a casting addition for the second season, alongside Thomas Doherty, who will play a college freshman who falls into Lucy and Stephen’s chaotic on-and-off relationship.

Tell Me Lies Season 2
Oppenheimer told TheWrap in November 2022 that Season 2 could show more of the characters’ coming-of-age, starting with their engagement party, along with flashbacks to where the show left off with them in college.
She also hinted at the idea of focusing future episodes on the side characters, specifically Diana and Bree, noting that viewers want to see more of Bree.
We hope to find out the background to Stephen and Lydia’s meeting, why Stephen and Diana’s relationship ended, what happened to Drew, and how Lucy found out about her ex-boyfriend and hometown best friend’s relationship.

Additionally, Lucy did something even more unfortunate when she tried to get Stephen back from Diana.
When is Tell Me Lies season 2 coming out?
We finally have a release date for Tell Me Lies season 2.
Hulu has announced that the show will return with two new episodes on September 4th!
It was confirmed in November 2022 that the season was supposed to be released in 2023, but the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild strike led to a delay.
Filming began in January 2024, so a fall premiere wouldn’t be surprising.
Where can you watch season 2 of Tell Me Lies?
Since it’s a Hulu original, the streaming service is where you’ll find the series.
Tell Me Lies Episodes
The number of episodes has not been officially confirmed. However, it is certain that the series will consist of 10 episodes, as in the first season.
Is there a trailer for season 2?
Since filming started about a month ago, the official trailer has not been released yet.
