Aethir, a decentralized cloud infrastructure provider, has partnered with MetaGravity, developers of the HyperScale engine, to accelerate the development of decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN).
The partnership aims to improve the 3D Internet and gaming industry with DePIN technology, creating a scalable infrastructure that simplifies game development and makes it more efficient and accessible.
In a written Q&A with Cointelegraph, Dan Wang, co-founder and CEO of Aethir, highlighted the goal of the partnership, saying:
“By uniting a global network of untapped resources, we are paving the way for a more accessible, immersive and sustainable future for 3D and internet gaming.”

Effects of the partnership on online games
The partnership aims to transcend the historical limitations of online gaming by combining MetaGravity’s HyperScale engine with Aethir’s Instaplay pixel streaming solution.
The collaboration is expected to enable game developers to simultaneously scale back-end emulation infrastructure and front-end “multi-device pixel streaming capability.”
Tobin Ireland, co-founder and CCO of MetaGravity, explained the causal divide in the Q&A session:
“MetaGravity has created a new concurrency and parallelism method for distributing massive simulations across multiple servers (called causal partitioning), without the size and cost limitations of previous methods.”
Ireland explained that MetaGravity uses mathematical formulas to precisely quantify game interactions, creating an infrastructure that “can provide 100 times the scale of spatial segmentation at 1/100 the computational cost.”

Decentralized computing
The MetaGravity and Aethir partnership also includes the goal of establishing a long-term R&D roadmap to accelerate the adoption of DePINs for gaming.
Regarding DePIN’s impact on gaming, Wang said the following:
“DePINs leverage geographically distributed GPU resources, bringing processing power closer to users. DePINs are inherently scalable and secure, ensuring that even the most demanding games run smoothly.

Ownership and control
The combined technology between Aethir and MetaGravity aims to advance the third generation of the Internet, characterized by decentralized ownership and control.
Ireland explained that there will be an increased demand for computing power, which will reduce latency and transmission costs on the network.
“The DePIN infrastructure also has the benefit of decentralized ownership, governance and control.”
